Jacob earned a broken hip
2 commentsYesterday as we left church we stopped by a members house. His name is Mr. Mohommed or Russel, whichever you prefer. We learned that two nights before he had been beaten mercilessly by neighborhood boys for no reason. (this is a pretty strange thing to happen here Pastor Andrew told us). Russell and his family have been having a hard time recently as he has been out of a job. (actually we saw him early friday night, before he was beaten, and he was distressed because all he could do was catch fish and he didnt have any oil to fry them in) So we sat with him, his head was all bruised and his left forearm swollen from a break, he could not move it without the help of his other arm. We told him that we wanted to pray with him and give him a little money to help out. As I prayed for his arm we both heard and felt a 'crack' and afterward he was able to move it freely to the astonishment of himself, his wife and everyone sitting there. I felt so greatful for the compassion and love of Jesus to do such a thing. God is always wanting to pour out his mercy and love. Are we willing to recieve the blessing, to seek him for it? Jacob in the bible wrestled with God and would not let go until he recieved a blessing. He did and he also recieved a broken hip. As Brittany and I have been seeking the Lord for more of him we have come face to face with the same reality as Jacob. If we are seeking the blessing of God He will take our reliance on our own strength from us. God is too good to let us succeed on our own strength. We need Him and He is kind enough to allow us to come to a place where we know that our own strength is not enough (and in fact often is in the way). We can then enter into a place of relationship in trusting and relying upon His. His mercy, his love, his provision. How can a cup be filled if it is not emptied first?
Let us all empty ourselves in humilty and honesty before Him and, as the Bible says, "if we humble ourselves He will lift us up".
Thank you all, we love you

Isaac and Brittany ~ I am often moved to tears by what the LORD is doing in and through you. NOTHING is too difficult for our God! Thanks for being poured-out wine and broken bread ... Rev. 12
